The generator integration unit, hereinafter referred to as GIU, is designed to connect the generator as a backup power supply to the voltage regulator and create a bypass power line to exclude from the voltage regulator supply circuit when the generator is connected to the regulator, thus avoiding damage to both the generator and the regulator.
